Foundation

In July 2010, brothers Michael and Stephan Würtemberger founded WM aquatec GbR, starting on 9m² in their home. It all began with Stephan’s 9-month stay in Australia.

After studying supply and environmental engineering, Michael Würtemberger gained experience in building prototypes for water treatment systems. Alongside his main job as a development engineer, he created a small compressed-air-operated water treatment system, which had its test run in Australia, providing fresh drinking water in the Outback. After returning, WM aquatec GbR was born. To realize more projects, the brothers rented a 150m² “idea workshop” in Schönaich (Böblingen).

First Serial Product

With the Silvernet as their first serial product, WM aquatec became a pioneer in automatic water conservation in 2011. The product was first presented to the public at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, the leading trade fair for camping and caravanning. Thanks to its simple and reliable use, many motorhome owners, yacht owners, and bus companies trusted in the Silvernet. Part of the success was also the organized distribution network through the German camping wholesale sector, which started in January 2012.

Relocation & Reorganization

Due to increasing space requirements, the company moved to Filderstadt-Sielmingen in January 2013, doubling its space to 300m². It allowed for larger stock and increased production capacity. At that time, WM aquatec GbR was converted into WM aquatec GmbH & Co. KG. Stephan Würtemberger, with experience as a production manager in the automotive supply industry, took over production management.

Expansion & Investment for the Future

In March 2017, the company relocated to Erkenbrechtsweiler. A new building with 1500m² of office, production, and storage space now offers 12 employees excellent conditions. The product range grew – from conservation and disinfection agents to fully automatic water treatment systems for houseboats. WM aquatec products are now available in over 350 specialist stores in Germany and are also sold to Switzerland, Europe, and overseas.

10th Anniversary & Innovation Power

How quickly time flies. For 10 years now, passion and creativity have driven the Würtemberger brothers to build WM aquatec. Hundreds of thousands of satisfied campers, motorhome owners, yacht owners, and industrial clients have been equipped with WM aquatec products. Thanks to a motivated and expert 20-person team, WM aquatec has become the No. 1 provider for water hygiene in motorhomes in the German-speaking area. A new chapter began with the UV-C LED water disinfection unit, first introduced at the CMT 2020 in Stuttgart. It attracted considerable attention from both the media and major motorhome manufacturers.

Innovation is rewarded: the UV-C LED was honored with the German Innovation Award 2020 and nominated for the German Sustainability Award 2021.

WM aquatec Continues to Grow

Now with a 30-person team, WM aquatec is active in other industries and expanding its sales activities beyond Europe.
